Camelback Mountain is a well-known landmark and hiking destination in Phoenix, Arizona.  The mountain is in the shape of a camel's back, hence the name. Camelback is located in the Mountain Echo Canyon Recreation Area in the Phoenix Valley. Camelback has become a very popular recreation activity for both locals and tourists to enjoy hiking and rock climbing.  With an elevation of 2,704 feet, Camelback has some of the best views in the Phoenix Valley.  The mountain has two different trails, Echo and Cholla.  The trails are both challenging, but Echo Canyon is steeper (1.2 miles) and Cholla is longer (1.4 miles).  Most people complete the trails anywhere between 1.5 and 3.5 hours.
