Papago Park in home to some of the most beautiful sandstone buttes in Arizona.  The Hole-In-The-Rock is a geological rock formation located within the park.  The Hole-In-The-Rock is a series of small holes in the rock formation that eroded over time creating an almost Swiss cheese look in the sandstone.  Theorists say that the sandstone was formed about 6-15 million years ago by erosion. There is an opening in the back of the rock that over time has eroded completely through to the other side.  There is a small trail behind the rock formation that leads up to the main opening by the summit.  Hole-In-The-Rock provides a clear view of the entire city of Phoenix and it has become a popular place for people to go a watch the sunset.
