For casual hikers,or the more intense mountain runners, Squaw Peak is perfect for anyone looking for a challenge. The hour trip up to the top is relatively consistent. While hiking, we encountered a couple at the top. Hiker Maria was taking her boyfriend on the peak for the first time. When asked wha she thought, she said, "I enjoy Squaw Peak much more than CamelBack." It certainly is a fun hike.

From bottom to top, the trail is about three miles and travels up stair-shaped rocks. All the way up, the stairs lead to a beautiful view of the entire valley.

Maria told us that, "It's a one-pace hike." We couldn't agree more. The slope stays mostly the same and its basically all stairs.

The only real difficulty lies about a hundred yards from the top where the trail gets increasingly steep. Once at the top, hikers can enjoy the beautiful view of the valley while resting on the rocks. 

 

Get used to seeing other hikers along the journey because there will be a lot. However, the peak provides plenty of room to pass, sit and rest or just to casually walk.

 

Overall, the hike is beautiful and perfect for hikers of any caliber. It provides a great challenge for new and upcoming hikers as well as battle-hardened mountain runners.

 

Because the mountain is not the best kept secret, parking may be an issue. Parking is available from 7 a.m to 7 p.m but the park is open until 11 p.m.
